Prairiefire Music Series

Get ready for the last Prairiefire Music Series of 2024! Bring your lawn chairs and dancing shoes to watch as Flashback KC covers your favorite songs from every decade. During this event, you can purchase alcohol from any Prairiefire restaurant or bar and take it out on the street with you. The event takes place on September 12 from 7 to 10 PM and is free to attend. 

 
Terra Luna

Immerse yourself in a spellbinding experience created exclusively for the Overland Park Arboretum & Botanical Gardens by QuixoticTerra Luna guides guests on a wild journey through the Arboretum's grounds, culminating in an immersive performance uniting live music, dance, aerial acrobatics and more. The show includes eight performances between September 12-15 and 19-22, with September 19 being an adults-only (21+) experience. Ticket prices range between $25 and $60, and can be purchased here.   

 

Fall Festival

Get ready for the Fall Festival in Downtown Overland Park on September 27 from 4 - 8 PM, and September 28 from 8 AM - 5 PM! Enjoy hands-on activities, live entertainment, friendly vendors, and delicious festival food with the whole family, including your furry friends. Explore booths featuring over 75 local and regional artists, and indulge in treats from food trucks, local restaurants, and Farmers’ Market vendors. Moon and Water Lantern Festival

Experience a magical evening under the moonlight at the Moon and Water Lantern Festival. On September 28 at 4 PM, head to the Overland Park Arboretum & Botanical Gardens to enjoy the enchanting sight of lanterns reflecting on the water, live performances, lion and dragon dances, delicious food for purchase, games and more! This free, family-friendly cultural celebration is hosted by the Kansas City Chinese Association. Learn more about the event here

Pumpkin Hollow

Mosey on down to Deanna Rose Children's Farmstead for Pumpkin Hollow all October long! Bring the whole family to explore the hay pyramid, giant slide, spider web maze, and enjoy other old-fashioned activities before picking your pumpkin to take home. This event runs October 1-31. Admission is $5 for ages 3+, Pumpkin Hollow tickets are an additional $10 per person and can be purchased here

 

Hawktoberfest in Bluhawk

Bluhawk's 3rd Annual Hawktoberfest is happening on Saturday, October 5th from 3 - 7:15 PM, offering a family-friendly fall festival packed with free activities and entertainment. Enjoy hayrides, face painting, balloon artists, inflatables, magic shows and more, along with delicious concessions and live music. This event is free to attend.

 
Night at the Living Farm

To end October with a bang, Deanna Rose Children's Farmstead is hosting their annual Halloween event: Night at the Living Farm. Participate in mad science experiments, a flashlight scavenger hunt, princess dances, fortune teller readings and top it all off with a marshmallow roast. Don’t forget to pack a costume! The event includes four dates: October 18, 19, 25 and 26. Tickets are $15 per person and can be purchased here

 

Botanical Brewfest

Immerse yourself in a symphony of flavors and fall foliage at Botanical Brewfest on October 19! Sample hundreds of beers from regional and local breweries, mouthwatering bites, and take in the natural beauty at the Overland Park Arboretum and Botanical Gardens. Ticket prices range between $55 and $75, and can be purchased here starting August 19.

Jurassic Quest

From November 1-3, Jurassic Quest will come alive in the Overland Park Convention Center. The main dinosaur exhibit features over 80 ultra-realistic, life-size animatronic dinosaurs. Visitors can interact, learn about and even ride a few of these huge creatures. There are fossil digs where young paleontologists can uncover dinosaurs bones and pre-historic inflatable mazes. Ticket prices range between $22 and $36, and can be purchased here

 

Mayor's Holiday Festival

Head to Downtown Overland Park for the Mayor's Holiday Festival on November 15. Bring along the family to enjoy the tree lighting ceremony at Thompson Park, live music, photos with Santa Claus and other festive activities. This event is free to attend. 

 
Luminary Walk and Electric Glow

Kick off your holiday season with a festive family walk through the lights at the Overland Park Arboretum & Botanical Gardens! During the Luminary Walk on November 29-30, gardens are bright with color, while the walkways through quiet woods are lit with candles. Trees, buildings, and bridges are all part of the show, with thousands of lights aglow. You can expect to grab photos with Santa, complimentary hot apple cider and listen to live music. Tickets are $15 per person ages 5+ and must be reserved ahead of time here starting October 1.


For a more low-key light show experience, attend Electric Glow on November 25-27. Capacity is limited during this event and only the electric lights are on, making it ideal for younger spectators to wander through the gardens, fairy and gnome houses freely. There will be no photos with Santa, candlelit woods, musicians, free cider or large crowds during Electric Glow. Tickets are $10 per person ages 5+ and must be reserved ahead of time here starting October 1.
