Downtown Overland Park will capture your interest with its historic charm and small town flair.  The area originally bustled with horse-drawn carriages and was once a famous stopping point for the Steam Electric Interurban Railroad Line.  Nearly a century later, the area boasts a vibrant shopping and restaurant district featuring nearly 300 locally owned and operated venues.

Foodies feel at home at the district's ethnic eateries, treasure seekers love exploring the boutique shops and art lovers can't get enough of the beautiful galleries. Park near the infamous clocktower and head in any direction to explore this very special place:

Culinary Center of Kansas City
The Culinary Center of Kansas City serves inspiration and deliciousness to all who come in for professional cooking classes, cool kitchen accessories, or tasty samples every 3rd Friday during Local Life. For a rundown on all the experiences the Culinary Center offers, visit www.KCCulinary.com.

The General Store & Co
There are few places where you can walk a store four times over and keep discovering something quirky that you love. The General Store & Co. has quickly become a favorite in Downtown OP with its fashionable home décor items, vintage art, and off-the-wall gifts. To keep up to date with The General Store & Co, follow them on Facebook.

The Tasteful Olive
You may feel wary at first to "sip" the samples of olive oil and balsamic vinegars, but trust us, it's worth it! The sweetness of the fused blood orange flavor and earthiness of the Herbs de Provence are truly delicious. They have hundreds of recipe cards available for you to take home so you can make your own dressings, appetizers, desserts...even beverages! Visit their website for more, www.TheTastefulOlive.com.

The Clock Tower Bakery
A family owned bakery creating delicious delights from United States and Great Britain, all baked from scratch using the finest ingredients. From the macarons to the scones, this bakery always hits that sweet spot. If you're seeking a truly unique experience, make a reservation for their English Afternoon Tea featuring sandwiches, mini desserts and ofcourse, a varied selection of British teas. The Upper Crust Bakery
Sisters Elaine and Jan KNOW how to bake a pie... and so much more! The Upper Crust often has a line out the door before they open every morning. They also serve up mouth-watering cookies, sweet bars and meringues. The decor is charmingly vintage, inviting you to order a cup of coffee with your treat, enjoy people-watching and just take your good ol' time. For more information: www.uppercrustbakery.com
