It Gets Better Project
In this newest production of it gets better, stories were collected from communities across the nation. From the hundreds of conversations 12 were dramatized for the stage. it gets better provides a performing arts response to the difficult issue of bullying, and is intended to support young members of the LGBT community. All performers speak the words of real individuals they portray as well, public figures such as NBA basketball star Jason Collines. Finally, members of the Gay Men's Chorus of Los Angeles are joined onstage by local choirs in collaborative public performance that culminates the weeklong residency. The projects creates a safe space for critical conversations, allows connections to be developed and strengthened, provides motivation for community growth, and offers models of possibility to individuals in need of support.
